Late one night, early in 2004, a group of eight friends were gathered together and reminisced (after a few drinks of course – as we're sure many of you have), about ‘the good old days' when a Maco dance party was held virtually every other weekend.

If the number of Macedonian dance events held in recent times were compared to Perth's water levels, then it would be fair to say they'll be no ajvar this season!

It was this ‘drought' that brought about the formation of Macedonian Youth Culture (MY Culture or MYC).

Our mission is to provide the Macedonian youth of Western Australia the opportunity to enjoy themselves in an environment that allows them to catch up with old friends and meet new ones; an environment where they can embrace their culture through music, both new age and old school; and an environment to have fun. Our goal is to bring back the ‘good old days' but do it the MY Culture way, the Macedonian youth way.

We will hold regular dance events for you to enjoy and since these events are held for you, the Macedonian youth, we encourage you to give us regular feedback, via our website, detailing what you thought of each event and what you would like to see at the next one.

Our long-term goals revolve around expanding our activities from hosting dance parties to offering a variety of other external activities, including:

· Sporting events;

· Group activities such as river cruises, and other social activities.

Again, we encourage you to provide the MYC team with feedback, suggesting events you believe would interest the Macedonian youth.

Through our logo, we have captured our merging lifestyles. The layered effects of the Macedonian and Western Australian map and the suns, symbolise the blending of the ‘old Maco' with the new, along with the merging of two very different cultures; the Macedonian culture within a Western Australian lifestyle.
